Dionysus embodies a rich duality, symbolizing both ecstatic joy and chaotic frenzy. As the god of wine, revelry, and fertility, he represents the liberating power of celebration and the pleasures of life. Yet, his influence also encompasses darker forces. The ecstatic freedom he offers can tip into madness, blurring the line between creation and destruction. This dual nature reflects the intoxicating balance between order and chaos, reminding us of both the pleasures and perils of surrendering to our instincts.

I am so excited to introduce the Dionysus Shawl. This shawl is knit in a simple triangular shape with a generous wingspan but without excess fabric falling at your chest. This shawl is knit with a cleverly alternated motif of knit and purl rows creating an optical illusion of color changing stripes as you view the fabric at different angles.
This shawl is designed with Hue Loco’s DK weight base, in 200g of a variegated (sample shown in ‘Changing Leaves’) and 200g of a rich semi-solid (sample shown in the colourway ‘Acorn’). Utilizing two unique, yet complimentary yarns is the key to this design, and I encourage you to have fun picking out a pair. The pattern utilizes US5, 3.75mm knitting needles. Despite it’s knit-flat construction style, I personally used my favorite pair of circulars to accommodate it’s lofty wingspan.
This shawl is available to all of my mailing list subscribers. Once signed up, you will receive an email with a copy of the electronic pattern. It’s been a goal of mine for a long time to bring more free content to all of you and I’m so excited the time is finally here! For those of you who are already members of my mailing list, you should already have received your copy via email by the time you are reading this blog post!
I hope you enjoy this shawl and all use it as your next cast on.
